Marie’s fascination with tidying was first piqued at just 5 years old, as she was enchanted with the pages of her mother’s home and lifestyle magazines. At just 15 years old, Marie started to explore tidying on a deeper level. After she started her tidying consultant business as a 19 year old university student, Marie began honoring her tidying craft. From her years of research and experience, working with hundreds of clients emerged a unique and life-changing approach to tidying: The KonMari Method™.
Marie Kondo has authored nine books in Japanese on tidying and organization. Her first book "The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up" has been translated into 44 languages, which collectively have sold more than 14 million copies worldwide. In 2015, she was also listed as one of Time Magazine's 100 most influential people. Her first television show, "Tidying Up With Marie Kondo" was Netflix's #1 non-fiction release in 2019 and earned 2 Emmys nominations. In 2022, her second television show "Sparking Joy with Marie Kondo" earned the Daytime Emmys Awards. Marie continues to share her perspective and ideas of “tidying up and living with what sparks joy” while raising her three children with her husband.
